Thanks to your support and that of the greater Cheverus community, we were able to raise over $115,000 at our 6th Annual Gala. This was a very special year, as we honored our former Principal, Mr. Thomas P. Arria, Jr. We also honored another former Principal, Mrs. Dianne Dingolo, with the new Dianne Dingolo Award. This new honor was voted on by faculty and staff and was presented to Ms. Ronda Young for making Cheverus a wonderful place to be.
The money raised at this year’s Gala will go towards improving our ever-growing school. We have plans to renovate our basement level to create a Learning and Arts Center that will include a library, art room, STEM lab, and additional classroom space. We will also continue to serve our families by providing scholarships for our students.
Our Gala allows us to keep our tuition affordable and our school facilities up to date. We could not do it without the support of our families and community. Even the smallest donation can change the life of a Cheverus student forever. We look forward to continuing to work with you and your children and truly appreciate you entrusting us with their care and education.

Cheverus Catholic 5th Annual Gala
On behalf of the entire community of Cheverus Catholic School, I want to thank everyone for the generous support of our fundraising effort, the Fifth Annual Cheverus Catholic School Gala. This year, with your help, we were able to raise over $108,000.00.
This fundraising effort insures that we can continue to provide an education that remains established in the tradition of the Sisters of Providence. We are proud of the tradition of academic excellence, and the importance we place on delivering works of love, mercy and justice to the larger community.
Past support has enabled us to successfully implement the Reading Street Program, install a new playground, put in a security system, make renovations to our gymnasium and bathrooms and to provide financial assistance to our families. With the proceeds from the Fifth Annual Gala we will be able to begin to fund our fire safety upgrades as well as to continue to increase tuition assistance and merit scholarship.
We are extremely grateful and honored for our many our supporters. We hope that you continue to partner with us as we strive in our efforts to serve the students of the Greater Malden community, to shape their lives, and to help them grow in their faith. I thank you again on behalf of our students and families for those who play such an important role in the Cheverus Catholic family.
May God Bless You,
Thomas P. Arria, Jr.

Cheverus Catholic 4th Annual Gala
Cheverus Catholic School is grateful to all those who contributed to making the Fourth Annual Cheverus Catholic School Gala a tremendous success.
We appreciate the support of the many donors, sponsors, and our parent community who helped us not only reach our goal, but exceed it. This year, we raised over $120,000.00. The revenue from the Gala will be used to help fund the updating of our fire safety system as well as to provide financial assistance and scholarship to our students.
The Gala Committee, chaired by Heath Gunderman and comprised of Diana Palacios, Angela Lee, Meg DeMarco, Jeff Lane, and Mary Beth Leon worked tirelessly over the last ten months to insure a successful event. They organized every detail from soliciting ads, prizes, and auction items to order of events and the meal. We also thank Anthony’s of Malden for hosting a most enjoyable evening.
Thanks one and all!!!
Gala 2019 was a great success!

Former Mayor James Conway
Former Mayor James Conway served the City of Malden for over 60 years in elected and appointed positions. He was at various times a member of the School Committee, a City Councillor, a State Representative, and the Mayor. More recently “Jim” served as Chairman of the Licensing Board. He also served as Executive Director of the Malden Chamber of Commerce and as the Mass Fuel Assistance State Program. Beyond his many years of elected and appointed service to the City, Jim had a passionate loyalty and devotion to Cheverus Catholic School. When, four years ago, we decided to initiate a gala as a fundraiser, we could think of no one person who could provide us with more advice. Jim responded by working to solicit significant sponsorships and in the process raised a substantial amount of money. Even to his passing, he remembered Cheverus. It was his personal request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Cheverus Catholic.
Father Patrick Hally Medals
Mrs. Lois Storace
The first of these individuals is Mrs. Lois Storace. Lois launched the kindergarten program at Cheverus Catholic in 1980. Over the next seven years, she moved from kindergarten to teaching Math to grade 8 to those same students she had seven years earlier. Lois also began a program called Teen Star, a sex education curriculum, progressive for its time. She epitomized the philosophy of Mother Guerin who charged her sisters “To love the children first, then teach them.” She worked tirelessly on behalf of the students and their families. In doing so, she has ensured that the vision Father Patrick Hally had for Cheverus Catholic School continues.
Mrs. Marie Caviasca
Mrs. Marie Caviasca, former Vice Principal of Cheverus Catholic School will also be presented with a Father Patrick Hally Medal at this year’s Gala. Kindness and patience are the two words that colleagues of Marie use to describe her. Ordered and efficient, she handles book orders, fundraising efforts, and field days. Marie inspired a confidence in parents that their children were in good hands. If you needed a question answered, Marie was who you went to. She was a great presence and totally dedicated to the Cheverus family. To this day she remains involved as an organizer and committee member of the Dianne Dingolo Scholarship Fund.
