The Cheverus School Extended Day Program began in 1998.  It has provided a safe, enriching, and active environment for Cheverus Students of all ages since its inception.  Children who attend the program can get assistance with their homework, play with toys and board games, create various art projects, and play sports and games in the gymnasium.  The EDP is staffed by experienced adults who have been working with children for years.  Its structured yet casual atmosphere has proven popular with parents as well as students.

A safe place is invaluable to parents when it comes to their children.  Students of the program meet the Extended Day Staff on the building’s first floor.  Children in kindergarten through second grade are greeted right outside their classrooms when school ends.  Once all students are present, two or more of our staff take them through the school to the gymnasium.  Parents can pick up any time before 5:30.  Only registered adults are allowed to pick students up.

Director Jeffrey Lane has worked at the program since 2001 and been its director since 2004.  The program is also staffed by Kathy Hoff, a preschool teacher at Cheverus and Casey Leon, a graduate of Cheverus. Kathy has filled in on First Friday half days in the past and will return on a more regular basis this school year.  Casey is a student at Regis College.  She has been working at the program since 2001, when she was an eighth grade helper.

The reality of having to leave your children in the hands of others can be hard for parents, especially those of newer students. However, any Cheverus Extended Day parent will tell you that you can have peace of mind knowing they are happy, secure, and having a great time.
